Niagara Parks & Niagara River Trail Niagara-on-the-Lake is at the trailhead of the Niagara River Recreation Trail, a 56 km bicycle path that runs parallel to the Niagara Parkway through Niagara Falls and on to Fort Erie's beaches and links up with the 150 km Greater Niagara Cycle route. The trail passes many historic sights and tourist attractions such as wineries, the Butterfly Conservatory, the Niagara Botanical Garden, the Whirlpool and the world famous cataracts themselves. See Niagara as you've never seen it before on what Winston Churchill called "the prettiest Sunday afternoon ride in the world."

Local Wineries Between the shores of Lake Ontario and the cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment lies a unique microclimate that results in a unique microcosm of outstanding wineries. Climate and soil meld to create a terroir where vinifera grapes thrive, making the region home to Canada's finest vineyards. Because great wines are made on the vine, and not in the bottle, Niagara's wineries have garnered countless awards on the world stage at events such as InterVin International Wine Competition, France's prestigious Vinexpo and the British Wine and Spirit Competition. Matching the quality of Ontario Wines are the wineries that produce them. From modest cottage to the grandest chateaux, the wineries of Niagara will leave you spellbound with their warm intimacy and old-world charm. You can rest in the shadow of enormous oak wine barrels, redolent with the promise of another elegant vintage as you experience our orchards and vineyards, breathing in the unmistakable scent of a Niagara summer. |
